Oxaleptal works to prevent the formation of epileptic fits or convulsions in the brain, so it is used (as a monotherapy or in combination with other treatments) to control certain types of epileptic fits or seizures. The treatment does not cure epilepsy, but it helps control seizures in terms of reducing their recurrence, so it is not permissible to stop taking the treatment without consulting the doctor once the patient's condition improves, as seizures may reappear after stopping treatment.
